Children’s Village, aka Moo Baan Dek, is a learning center and teacher training center. It provides an education for disadvantaged children whose rights have been violated. Based on the Summerhill school method, while incorporating elements of Buddhism and psychotherapy, Children’s Village empowers its students by giving them the freedom to control the terms of their own education.
At Children’s Village, they live with nature harmoniously. Both children and adults aim to create a self-dependent community, as much as possible. They grow their own rice and produce in their organic garden. They also use green, alternative energy including solar energy, biomass stoves, and recycled paper. They raise animals, and produce bio-gas for consumption in all households in the community.
